Chapter Fourteen

Wylder

Khai stirred within my hold, but there wasn’t a second where a part of him wasn’t in contact with me throughout the night. We’d made love at least three times, and still my cock stirred as I caught sight of his lips, full and used so early in the morning.

This was where I belonged. Where I had belonged all along. In the arms of my omega. Sated and yet hungry for him. Upside-down in love.

I was already making plans in my head. Plans to never leave him. Plans to have all my stuff moved here as soon as possible. We would figure out the business and, if we couldn’t, we would start over or sell everything and begin a new life somewhere else. I’d suggest my idea for him coming to the city and starting a business while living with me in my condo.

I liked my job very much and wouldn’t mind continuing to do it if it were possible. But one way or another, we could make it work.

None of it mattered, except we were together.

There was nowhere else I wanted to be than with my omega.

“Good morning,” I whispered as I noticed the change in his breathing. My bear was content for the first time in ages. Khai was already marked by me, had been a long time ago, but my bear felt the need to re-mark him. So, now, my omega bore two marks.

His rabbit was sated. Our animals’ bond had been renewed overnight. It was as though they had never parted. They had simply gone dormant in love, waiting for our human sides to come to their damned senses.

“Good morning.” He stiffened, but not in the way I’d hoped. He pushed the covers aside and I got a gift in the form of his nakedness in all its glory. Time had been good to my omega.

“Are you okay?” I asked. He nodded and moved to stretch. I lamented the loss of his warmth immediately.

“I’m fine. I…I think I’m going to go get a shower. Unless you want to take one first.”

“No. You go ahead.”

Tension filled the air.

He got out of bed and covered himself with a sheet as he walked to the bathroom. He had never done that before. I knew his body by heart, so there was no reason to cover his nakedness. I offered to make coffee, but my only reply was the shower turning on. Maybe he hadn’t heard me.

Maybe he thought last night was a mistake.

Throwing a pair of shorts on, I went down to the kitchen to give him some space. After getting the pot ready and turned on, I drank a glass of water and allowed myself to relive some of the night before.

We’d connected in ways I didn’t know were possible. Starving for each other. We hadn’t shared many words, but our bodies did the speaking for us.

Reality dawned on me and I nearly threw up the water in my stomach. Maybe he wasn’t speaking because something else was going on.
